A viewer warns: “be careful where you get your maple syrup. my dad was involved in a number of businesses and one of the businesses he was involved with sold maple syrup in the states. that company added white sugar to their syrup, to thicken it without having to extend the boiling time, and it did not need to be stated on the label! so it wasn’t! also, some syrup producers put formaldehyde tablets into the tap holes in the trees before putting in the spiles, to decreased bacteria!”
